How to add alerts and overlays in TikTok LIVE Studio
TikTok LIVE Studio can play video overlays on top of your camera — follow prompts, socials bars, webcam frames and more. The trick is using a file with a transparent background, so only the graphic shows. Here's the setup from start to finish.
1. Use a transparent file
A transparent .webm is the best format for LIVE Studio: small, sharp and see-through. Every BRANDED.GG order includes one in the Transparent Background folder (plus a green screen backup).
2. Add it to your scene
- Open TikTok LIVE Studio and pick the scene you go live with.
- Click "+" (Add source) and choose Media / Video.
- Select your transparent .webm file.
- Drag it into position and resize it from the corners — hold Shift to keep the shape.
3. Loop it, or play it on cue
- For things that stay on screen (socials bars, webcam frames): turn looping on.
- For one-off moments (a follow prompt): leave looping off and show the source when you want it to play.
- Keep the overlay layer ABOVE your camera in the source list, or it will be hidden behind it.
4. Play alerts automatically (optional)
To trigger an alert when someone follows or gifts, use TikFinity: create an Action that plays your video, then an Event that runs the action (for example 'on follow'). Add TikFinity's overlay to LIVE Studio once and it handles the rest.
Fixing a black or white box
If you see a box behind your animation, LIVE Studio isn't reading the transparency. Re-add the .webm file (not an .mp4), make sure you picked the Transparent Background version, and as a last resort use the green screen file with a chroma key filter.
Most personalised overlays look best at around a quarter to a third of the screen width — big enough to read, small enough not to cover your face.
