How to add a stinger transition in OBS and Streamlabs
A stinger is a short animation that covers the screen while OBS switches scenes underneath it — the cut happens while the animation is at its fullest, so the change feels seamless. Here's how to set one up.
OBS Studio
- In the Scene Transitions dock, click + and choose Stinger.
- Video File: pick your transparent stinger file.
- Transition Point Type: Time. Transition Point: the moment the animation fully covers the screen (733 ms for our Name Stinger).
- Click OK and select it as your active transition.
Streamlabs Desktop
- Open Scene Transitions → Add Transition → Stinger.
- Choose your stinger file.
- Set the transition point (733 ms for our Name Stinger) and save.
Getting the cut perfect
If you can see the old scene pop out before the animation covers it, raise the transition point slightly; if the new scene appears too late, lower it. Change it 50 ms at a time.
